Obituary

Brenda Darlow, 76, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on September 7th, 2026, in Las Vegas, NV.

Brenda was born in Las Vegas to Clayton LaVon Hickman and Rita June Hickman on October 9th, 1949.

Brenda had one older brother Clayton and a younger brother Gary (only 9 months apart) and much later would welcome her baby sister Jennifer. Brenda was a faithful member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. She grew up in Overton Nevada and attended Moapa Valley High School, and from there once she graduated would attend BYU for 2 years and then eventually go to Dixie State College in Utah. Brenda began working at Valley Bank where she would have a couple of famous clients like Stevie Nicks and Liberace. But the most important person Brenda would meet while working at the bank was her future husband and soulmate Alan Darlow.

Their courtship was short; they married that same year on September 18th, 1982. Brenda struggled with conceiving a child and would suffer with many miscarriages. It took a few years but finally she gave birth to her rainbow baby, a daughter named Erica. Brenda and Alan doted on Erica and Brenda was a stay-at-home mom for the first 5 years of Erica’s life running a daycare from home. When Erica started Kindergarten Brenda and Alan would face their biggest challenge, yet when Alan was diagnosed with cancer, Leukemia to be exact. They only gave Alan a few short years to live, but he lived with terminal cancer for 10 years. Brenda not only cared for her husband, but she also went back to work full-time in the medical field, beginning at a doctor’s office and eventually becoming the Director of a medical and technical academy. Brenda also raised Erica, first along with Alan and then as a single mother after Alan passed away.

Throughout it all Brenda and Erica always stayed together, later in life Brenda's greatest joy and pride was becoming a grandma to Ally and going on trips to see her family and adventures with Kyle, Erica and Ally. She loved cooking and baking with Ally, going to the movies and shopping and of course watching her soap operas. Despite being in a wheelchair after her first stroke in 2014 this did not stop Brenda from living her later years to the fullest. Brenda loved Erica, Kyle and Ally with all her might. One of Erica’s last requests of her mom was to come back as a butterfly so if you see a butterfly think of sweet Brenda

Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Alan Darlow, grandchild Kylie Alan Darlow Reese, brother Clayton Hickman and parents LaVon and June Hickman.

Brenda is survived by her daughter Erica Darlow, granddaughter Ally Reese, sister Jennifer Herrmeyer and brother Gary Hickman.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm September 19th, 2026, at The Church of Latter-Day Saints on 9825 W Desert Inn Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89117 with Brother Trent Horn Presiding.
