Bruce was an avid bird watcher and was a member of the Audubon Society Chapter in Fort Worth, TX. He and other members of the society traveled throughout Texas in search of various bird species throughout the years. At least two Saturdays a month, he attended bird watching events.
After retiring, he did some serious traveling through the United States and South America. To name a few, he traveled to Chile, Ecuador, Peru where he spent time in the Galapagos Islands, Amazon forest and Machu Picchu Inca ruins.
Bruce had a deep love for animals, especially Biff and Sofie who were his companion and accompanied him on birdwatchting expeditions. He found joy in feeding birds, especially geese at the Granbury, Texas assisted living facility. The geese would wait for him each morning and evening knowing that they would get fed.
