Joseph Talmadge Beck went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2025.
Joe was born on January 5, 1943 in Los Angeles County, California to Stone and Angie Beck. He spent his childhood in California and Las Vegas. His teenage years were spent in Whittier California, where he graduated from Saint Paul high school in 1961. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego at camp Pendleton . Always a train enthusiast, he spent many hours building and displaying his Lionel train sets and took pride in every detail of the little towns he would create. Every kid on Silver Cloud Drive would come to the Beck house in December to admire the extravagant train set up that would be around the Beck Christmas tree.
Joe married Dixie Smith on March 6, 1982 in Las Vegas , Nevada. They made their home in Whittier , California where he worked for the Whittier independent school district for 19 years. In 1999 Joe and Dixie moved to Las Vegas , Nevada where he worked for Dell Webb Retirement communities. Joe and Dixie enjoyed traveling , and often went to their vacation destinations by taking the train. Joe was a family man, always taking great pride in his children and grandchildren. He always loved to hear what was going on in their lives . His sense of humor was one of his greatest traits. He would light up a room with his laugh and his stories and people always felt cheerful after they spent time with Joe. He could make complete strangers laugh, and feel as though they were close friends. Joe was a member of the Garden Railway Society and had an extravagant train-village set up in his back yard. He also volunteered at Mountain View Hospital as a spiritual care volunteer . He very much enjoyed this opportunity because he got to meet many people and cheer up patients and their families, while spreading the word of God. Joe was a wonderful caretaker, a loving husband, a loyal friend, and a loving father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.
Joe was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Alan Beck, and his daughter Cindy Beck.
