Lynn Ray Dement

Lynn Ray Dement, 78, of North Las Vegas, passed away Nov. 12, 2019, at the Life Care Center of Las Vegas, following cancer treatment and broken hip complications.

Lynn was born May 18, 1941 on the family farm near Alexandria, South Dakota, to Henry and Lillie (Smith) Dement. He attended school there, Volga and Madison, SD. Lynn was the 15th child in the family.

Lynn served in the U.S. Air Force 1959-1962. He was trained as an electrician while stationed in Nebraska, Labrador in Canada, Greenland and California.

On Dec. 12, 1964, Lynn married Delaine Anna Olson at Oldham, SD. They were the parents of Ranae, Robin, and David, all of South Dakota. They later divorced.

Lynn worked at many labor jobs in South Dakota and the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas.

Lynn was also the father of Brady, of North Dakota, and Willodeana, of Washington. He was step-father to Kathy, of Texas. Lynn moved to Las Vegas, NV, in 1992 where he worked in vehicle reclamation yards.

Survivors include his children; sisters, Patricia Stewart and LaVonne (Donald) Johnson, both of Rapid City, SD, brother, Glenn (Barbara) DeMent, of Las Vegas, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be in South Dakota at the annual Dement family reunion. His remains will be placed with his parents and other siblings at Spencer Cemetery, Spencer, SD.
