Matthew D
Gregerson
Dec 31, 1991 — Jul 20, 2026
Matthew Dale Gregerson, 34, of St. George, Utah, passed away on July 20, 2026. After a long and hard-fought battle with addiction and mental illness, Matthew has finally found peace.
Matthew was born on December 31, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Amy and Roy Gregerson. He attended elementary school in Pahrump, Nevada, before his family relocated to St. George, Utah.
As a young boy, Matthew loved skateboarding, spending time with his friends, and being outdoors. He developed a lifelong love of camping and began collecting Hot Wheels at a very young age. His fascination with cars soon grew into a passion for tinkering, fixing things, and understanding how they worked. Matthew was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America and, before entering high school, earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting.
He attended Dixie High School and later Dixie College in St. George, where he earned a certification in Diesel Mechanics. His natural mechanical ability and love of working on vehicles made this a fitting path for him.
Matthew became a father in September 2016 when he welcomed his beloved son, Odin James. In October 2016, he married Odin's mother, Crysta Johnson, and became a stepfather to Neal and Tylen. Matthew and his family lived and worked in St. George for many years. Several years ago, Matthew reached out to his half-sister on his father's side, who had been adopted at birth. They were able to connect and begin building a relationship, and through that connection, she became a cherished part of the family.
Although Matthew faced tremendous struggles with addiction and mental health throughout his life, those struggles did not define the entirety of who he was. He was a son, brother, father, stepfather, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend who was deeply loved. He had recently completed a recovery program and was working toward building a healthier and more hopeful life for himself and his son. He celebrated this important milestone with his sister, Emily, on a camping trip - a fitting way to mark a new beginning while enjoying one of the things he loved most.
Matthew was preceded in death by his first love, Traci Cox; his mother, Amy Jo Iwinski Gregerson; and his grandmother, Cheryl Iwinski.
He is survived by his son, Odin; his former wife, Crysta, who remained a loyal and supportive friend; his stepsons, Neal and Tylen; his sister, Emily Iwinski; Tyler Spindler; and their son, Beau, who was born just days after his uncle Matthew passed away. His half-sister, Blair Olivera: Jason Olivera: and their children Brooklyn and Baily. He is also survived by his father, Roy Gregerson; his grandfather, James Iwinski; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In accordance with Matthew's wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal services will be held. His ashes will remain with his sister and his son.
Arrangements are being handled by Las Vegas Cremations.
May Matthew be remembered not only for the battles he fought, but for the life he lived, the people he loved, and the peace he was always seeking.
