Mel Allen McKinney

March 5, 1961 — February 22, 2021

Mel Allen McKinney Jr. 59 of Las Vegas NV passed away on February 22, 2021 in Las Vegas NV.  Mel was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas on March 5, 1961.

Mel grew up in Pittsburgh, Kansas where he graduated high school and was active in sports. He loved going to the YMCA to play basketball with friends. It was in Pittsburgh that he met his wife, Diane and they were married on October 5, 1987. Soon after in 1988 they moved to Las Vegas where they established their home. In Las Vegas he worked long hours as a property manager and in private security. Mel always had a love for sports and sports betting, especially basketball, boxing, baseball, and football. He also liked to eat out and go shopping with his wife, Diane. He was a supporter of the LGBTQ community in support of his sister, Missy. Mel was a kind and caring man that always wanted to help others. But his most recent passion was Facebook, there he enjoyed being able to reconnect with old friends and disagree with others (especially politics) on Facebook.  He was never shy to voice his opinion and his numerous suspensions attest to that. Ironically, he is currently suspended so this is what he would want everyone to know “Mr. Z_____berg and Tr__p can kiss his butt!”

He is survived by his wife Diane McKinney, sister Melissa McKinney and her lifelong partner, Amy. He was preceded in death by his father, Mel A McKinney and mother, Marjorie McKinney.

Mel left this earth the same was he lived, quickly and without hesitation. So please remember Mel’s final words to everyone would be “May the palm trees forever be swaying in the breeze.”

He also had a love for animals and his two cats so in lieu of flowers please send donations to @lasvegasfosterkittens on Instagram or Facebook
