Michael Gene Vetter

Michael Gene Vetter, 52, of Las Vegas, passed away on June 11th, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Michael was born in Alton, Illinois to Larry and Renee Vetter on August 5th, 1970.

Michael loved to travel and was fortunate to create many memories with his family through treasured vacations. He loved Las Vegas and had taken many family trips over the years prior to moving to Vegas in 2020. This past year he had grown to love the Golden Knights and would have loved to learn they won the Stanley Cup this last week.

Michael graduated with his Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College (2007), a Bachelor’s of Science in Behavioral Sciences from Missouri Baptist University (1999), and an Associates in Political Science from Lewis & Clark College.

Michael was married to Cathleen Vetter (50) for twenty-six years and divorced in 2021. Michael was a wonderful father to five kids, Lily (26), Ezra (25), Gracie (23), Avery (22) and Payton Vetter (20).

Michael worked as a Division Director for Family Intervention Services, Investigator in Child Protective Services, and Executive Director of a non-profit in Sierra Vista, Arizona from 2010 to 2018. He then worked as an Army Emergency Relief Specialist in Wiesbaden, Germany from 2019 to 2020. Michael then worked as a College Counselor and Adjunct Faculty at Arizona College of Nursing in Las Vegas till 2021. From 2022 to Present Michael was working as a School Community Liaison for United Citizens Foundation in Las Vegas.

Michael spent his life dedicated to working with non-profits and social work. Working with United Citizens Foundation in Las Vegas, he was a liaison at a local school. Michael was pursuing a Master of Education through the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with hopes to begin teaching first grade in July 2023.

Michael Vetter is preceded in death by his grandfather Floyd Vetter, and great grandmother Bess Lehr.

Michael Vetter is survived by his ex-wife Cathleen Vetter, his five children Lily, Gracie, Payton, Avery and Ezra Vetter, his younger brother Troy Vetter, his parents Larry and Renee Vetter, and his Grandmother Louise Vetter.

Funeral services will be held to the public at 4:00 PM, Monday, June 26th, 2023, at Davis Funeral Home on Rainbow Blvd. Burial will follow at Davis Memorial Park on South Eastern Ave at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 27th, 2023. Arrangements are by Las Vegas Cremations.

Pallbearers will be his three sons Payton, Avery, and Ezra Vetter along with Larry Vetter, Troy Vetter, and Jackson Porter.
