Michelle Ann Graaf
December 5, 1980 — April 26, 2025
For the first time in over 20 years, Michelle Ann Graaf walked, not on earthly ground but through the pearly gates, into the embrace of Jesus and the arms of the loved ones who went before her. She is whole, she is at peace, and no train can harm her again.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Darrell Delano Penrod, her grandmother, Sharleen Hendrix Graaf, and her stepfather Jimbo, Jim Brandt.
She is survived by her mother and longtime caregiver, Linda Penrod Brandt, North Las Vegas, NV; her father Brian Graaf Sr. (Kathy), Elizabethtown, KY; her grandmother, Joan Penrod, Auburn, AL; her grandfather, Marvin Graaf Sr., West Hazleton, PA; and her brother, Brian Graaf Jr. (Bobbie), Montgomery, AL. Her love extended to countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends. And of course, her faithful dog, Sadie. Though we will miss her deeply until we meet again, we find comfort knowing that she is now free from pain.
Michelle attended The Vanguard School in Lake Wales, Florida, and Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama. She played an integral role in opening and managing numerous restaurants in Auburn. Among all her jobs, being the cookie girl at Sewell Hall remained her favorite. She was accepted to the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, a testament to her talent and ambition, though life had other plans. When she could no longer work, she poured her creativity into artistic expression, finding solace in the beauty she crafted with her own hands. But above all, Michelle persevered.
She was fearless and kind, with a heart of gold. If she met you, she called you a friend. She trusted unconditionally and carried a childlike faith, always choosing to see the good in the world, even when the world was not always good to her. A radiant light in the darkness, she left an indelible mark on every heart she touched. Please remember her laughter, her kindness, her unwavering spirit, and know that she walks free at last.
