Nunn, Pauline Esther, also known as Alice Marie Martin, 09-04-1988 to 06-09-2025.
Pauline was born Pauline Esther Croy in Denver, CO on September 4, 1988 to parents Jeanine Lynn Buben and Calvin Douglas Croy. Pauline died in Las Vegas, NV on June 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her namesake Grandpa Paul Buben, Grandma Ella Marilyn Fleck Buben, namesake Great Grandma Esther Irene Barr Fleck, Grandpa Calvin William Croy, and Grandma Lorene Genelle Zickefoose Croy. Pauline is survived by her parents Jeanine Lynn Buben and Calvin Douglas Croy of Arvada/Westminster, Colorado, her ex-spouse and friend Richard Mark Nunn, Great Uncle David Harold Fleck, Great Aunt Linda Lou Carlson Fleck, many cousins, and friends from Michigan, Colorado, and Nevada.
Pauline, nicknamed “Aulie”, was raised interfaith at Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, CO where she attended Sunday school, youth group, and “Rainbow Day Camp” for children annually when younger in the summers. She also took interfaith classes at Boulder Unitarian Association, participated in youth group activities, and went on retreats there. She gained an understanding of all God’s children as spiritual beings, no matter what nationality, race, or religion they called themselves. We studied teachings from the eastern Gita, Christian Bible, and Hebrew Bible regularly, celebrating intercultural holidays with gratitude for Spirit and its wondrous creation. Pauline loved these celebrations and grew up appreciating spirituality, people, pets, and nature. She took her Jewish and Christian basis with her into her own spiritual journey and service to the non-denominational church in Nevada.
Pauline was a skilled gymnast and athlete, who competed for 14 years in USA Gymnastics on both the Denver School of Gymnastics Team and the Pomona High School Team. She also loved her ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and lyrical dance forms which she performed for: Gove Community School in Denver, CO, Centre of Dance in Golden, CO, and the Arvada Center for Performing Arts in Arvada, CO for many years. Pauline played in the band at Pomona High School and took clarinet lessons. She was a girl scout and especially enjoyed the crafts activities the group did and the camps her troop went on. She loved art, drawing and painting, for many years, and we have some of her artwork on our walls at our home that she gifted to us and her Grandpa Paul when he lived with us after my mom Grandma Ella died. Pauline attended summer camps and vacation camps in Colorado, for sports, arts, and a variety of her special interests, while her mom taught “Math Camps for Kids” at the Gove Community School, so that the two of them could meet for lunches as much as possible.
Pauline grew up in Colorado skiing in the back country mountains, skiing in the alpine areas, hiking trails in the forests, climbing mountains, running races, ice skating, roller skating, bicycling, watching plays and ballets, and taking travel trips – all with her parents. Pauline’s first
running race was at two years old in Washington Park in Denver, CO, where she was announced crossing the finish line as the youngest child competitor, and cheered on by an overwhelming applause, and then received ribbons and a treat bag. She annually visited her Grandpa Paul and Grandma Ella in Grand Rapids, MI, getting to know her Buben great aunts and uncles (now deceased) with cousins, her Fleck great aunt and uncle with cousins, and family friends throughout Michigan. Pauline especially liked visiting her great Aunt Nancy Buben Wilkinson and great Uncle Varl Wilkinson at their cottage in Baldwin, MI, and going to annual Buben Family Reunions in Flint, MI with her Grandpa Paul and Grandma Ella. Pauline loved playing tennis with her Grandpa Paul (who played competitive tennis for 80 years), and once lost a baby tooth at the tennis club, whose manager brought her a miniature ice cream cone to “ease” the pain. She enjoyed learning to sew with her Grandma Ella (a professional home economist, teacher, and excellent seamstress) and inherited her Grandma Ella’s sewing machine and patterns, which she used for many years making her own creations.
Pauline and her dad took annual father-daughter camping trips, and even went water rafting together on one of these camping trips. She and her mom bicycled, ran and hiked, went to movies and children theatre plays, read numerous books including scriptures, participated in camps and recitals, and ate meals outside on lawns between activities. Pauline liked talking to her mom’s accounting classes while waiting for her dad to pick her up after work, and when her mom reminded her that the students were there to learn accounting, she would say “ok guys, debits on the left, and credits on the right”. Pauline worked out at gyms and took dance classes whenever possible throughout her life. She even coached gymnastics in Commerce City Recreation Center in Colorado in her high school years.
Pauline graduated from Aurora Community College with two Associate Degrees, and teaching licenses in pre-school education and leadership, working for preschools in both Colorado and Nevada. She also went to truck driving school, earning her CDL, and traveling across the USA and Canada for two to three years with a co-driver. She worked as a receiver agent & administrative assistant at United AMS in Nevada. She worked as a Property Manager at Rocky Point, Illahee Shores, Golden Bell MHC for a year. She worked as a marketing manager at her mom’s Business Consulting & Taxation, Inc. company in Broomfield, CO for about three years. Most recently, Pauline volunteered in the daycare at her non-denominational church in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she and her boyfriend attended and served in multiple capacities.
Pauline recently changed her legal name to Alice Marie Martin for personal empowerment reasons. She enjoyed cooking and walking with her boyfriend Logan Lombardo, and they toured the Grand Canyon in a helicopter. Pauline “Aulie” had two dogs named Lilo and Stitch, who are being adopted out together by the animal foundation in Las Vegas because no one in the family can take them in. Both Pauline, also known as “Aulie, or Alice, and her boyfriend
Logan, were highly revered by their peers and respected by so many! Pauline died with her boyfriend Logan Lombardo. She suffered in adulthood from psychological and physical illness. Her parents, extended family, and friends are devastated by her loss.
We choose to remember the beautiful and gifted soul who was called by Pauline Nunn, “Aulie” Croy, and Alice Martin, although our family will always refer to her as Pauline or Aulie. No one can take away the gift that our daughter was to us, and the spiritual, living soul who she will always be. While waiting for arrangements with the Las Vegas Cremation Company, Pauline’s parents are removing her belongings from the apartment in Las Vegas and taking care of legal issues.
A memorial service is planned at Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, CO ASAP with details to be announced. We are also hoping to schedule visitations for family and friends in Nevada, Colorado, Michigan, and via Zoom, with details to be announced.
