Thomas Earl Wilson

Thomas Earl Wilson, age 70, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was born on February 17, 1946 to Bruce A. and Earleen Wilson in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the second of four children.

After graduating from Proctor High School, Tom joined the Army on January 6, 1966. Of the two years and seven months of his active service, he spent two years and two months in Vietnam. He was a Light & Heavy Weapons Infantryman and a Radio Telephone Operator with the MACV Advisory Team #75, 7th Infantry Division, Mytho Village, Vietnam. He went on 138 Operations while in-country to include being there during the Tet Offensive in February 1968.

Over the years, Tom worked for U.S. Steel in Eveleth, Minnesota and most recently for Molycorp Rare Earth Elements Mountain Pass mine in California.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his big brother Bruce B. Wilson.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Holsclaw of Henderson, Nevada and his son, Robert Wilson of Cave Junction, Oregon; his sisters, Sandy Vitolo of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Wilson of York, Pennsylvania. Tom was blessed with seven grandchildren; Wendy’s children – Blair Wilson, Brianna, Haylee and Kaylee Holsclaw; Roberts children – Aubrie, Madison and Taelor Wilson. He has one great grandchild, Braelyn Wilson and one on the way.

Tom was a quiet, gentle man who was loved and respected by those who knew him. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was all about family.
